There was a writer in South Louisiana who wrote that ‘politics’ is viewed by the people of South Louisiana as a ‘sport’ or a ‘game’. It’s true. They seem to love crooks when they run for office.
I remember the first time Fast Eddie ran against David Treen in the late 60s. There was a televised debate in New Orleans. Fast Eddie’s big statement that night was, “Yes, I admit that I am a crook. But, you see, that is the problem with Mr. Treen. I admit that I am a crook. Mr. Treen refuses to admit that he, too, is a crook!” He was elected! ROFL
