DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson: Core al Qaeda "Definitely" Not Gone, "Still Present" (Video)
RCP ^ | October 23 2014 | Bret Baier

BRET BAIER: As you know, the administration has been engaged for several weeks in this rather public debate about the status of "core al Qaeda." And on September 23rd, Ben Rhodes told reporters that the Khorasan Group in Syria included core al Qaeda operatives from Afghanistan and Pakistan and made their way to Syria. Jen Psaki, the State Department spokeswoman, said the Khorasan Group is merely affiliated with core al Qaeda. And on Wednesday you listed core al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan as one of several jihadist groups that threatens the U.S. That same day, the White House press secretary Josh Earnest said that core al Qaeda has been decimated and destroyed. Has core al Qaeda been decimated and destroyed or does it continue to pose a threat? And is Khorasan really core al Qaeda?

JEH JOHNSON, SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY: Well, core al Qaeda, as we know it, in Afghanistan and Pakistan is still present, they are not gone, very definitely. Through actions of the Bush and Obama administrations over the last decade or so who has done a lot to capture or kill members of core al Qaeda -- bin Laden, KSM and others. The group is not what it was in 2001 and what I'm focused on is the fact that there are now all these al Qaeda affiliates and adherents out there in the world that remain active and we still have threats and potential threats to the homeland from terrorist organizations. BAIER: So when Josh Earnest says it's been decimated and destroyed in Afghanistan and Pakistan, that's not true? JOHNSON: We've very definitely come a long way in capturing and killing a lot of their leadership, it's a very, very different organization than from what it was just a few years ago...

Like Rush said, there is no such thing as the Kardashian or Khorasan or ISIL or ISIS or whatever group.

It's just pResident Obola giving al Qaeda a new name, since he has congratulated himself for destroying them so many times.

Jihad is not something you can destroy by eliminating jihadists, whatever label you give them. You got to eliminate the ideology, belief and the doctrine that causes & drives it.

OK, so those administration spokes-clowns remind me of Steve Martin as The Jerk, describing where on his prize display that the patron was able to choose from, narrowing it down to a very small section. Well, that is like these guys trying to differentiate which core alQ they mean. Ben “muddy” Rhodes ultimately saying he meant we only decimated core alQ in this small section of Iraq, thus he didn’t lie.

Come to think of it, The Jerk is an apt analogy.

Most Americans don’t remember Obama saying al Qaeda is on the run. They count on the fact that most people don’t remember what happened last week on their favorite tv show. And they CARE about that. They will not wake up until we are directly attacked and THEIR house is on fire. Then they’ll blame Bush.
