Truman was socialist garbage like every rat President from Wilson on and every rat nominee for President from FDR on.

He was as popular as dirt for most of his Presidency.

Truman has been treated more kindly by history than by his contemporaries (22% approval on leaving office) likely because, at least compared to today's liberal/progressive Democrats, his politics could easily be described as Neanderthal-grade conservative.
People today forget that he willfully ignored Communists in the Roosevelt government he inherited, and botched the Korean war big time, instead they give the "Truman Doctrine" some credit for the Soviet collapse in 1989.
