Not engineering, math, or physics.

Most students of those are foreign males, especially the upper level degrees. Our public education system doesn’t prepare our students for anything remotely difficult.

Thanks for the ping.

Blacks and women keep voting against their own interests. How stupid can they be?

Ps. Not myself or women here, of course

You are correct but things are changing in those fields. No too long ago there were nearly zero women in those disciplines.

The American Society For Engineering Education found that women represent 18 percent of all engineering bachelor enrollees, 23 percent of master’s enrollees, and 22 percent of doctoral enrollees.

Women receive 47% of bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and 40% of bachelor’s degrees in physical sciences; women are awarded 25% of doctorate degrees in each of these areas.

A study by the American Physical Society found that approximately 23% of bachelor’s degrees in physics are earned by women, 22% of Master’s degrees and 20% of Doctorates.

According to the American Association of Medical Colleges 48.3% of medical degrees awarded in the U.S. in 2009-10 were earned by women, an increase from 26.8% in 1982-3.

“No too long ago there were nearly zero women in those disciplines.”

Twenty years ago I was one of a handful in my engineering department.

I wonder about the breakdown of foreign students, male or female. About ten years ago, the majority getting masters degrees in engineering were from out of the country. Both sad (for this country’s future) and scary (a lot of middle eastern students were going back home with what they learned).

I am amazed at the medical degree numbers! That’s an amazing percentage growth in a short time. I hope the women are earning those spots and not getting them to fill quotas.

Thanks for all the relevant info!

My pleasure!
You might be able to get in the door to fill a quota but graduating and passing the state licensing exams is quite another thing.

“You might be able to get in the door to fill a quota but graduating and passing the state licensing exams is quite another thing.”

I hate to see white males discriminated against when they are more qualified to get into med school, though. There are a lot of bad doctors, probably in the bottom 50% of their class. Quotas just bring down standards.

My sister got into med school in the 70’s. I don’t know if she earned the spot or got lucky, though. But just like most of her peers, she thought she was God after graduating, if not before.
