Court to Hear Cases Over Employment, Housing Bias
ABC News ^ | October 2, 2014 | By SAM HANANEL

Did retailer Abercrombie & Fitch discriminate against a Muslim woman who was denied a job because her headscarf clashed with the company's dress code?

That's the question in one of the 11 cases the Supreme Court said Thursday it will take on in its new term.

The justices took no action on the highly anticipated issue of same-sex marriage, though a decision on the gay marriage cases could come later this month.

In other notable cases, the court will consider taking away a powerful legal tactic the Obama administration has used to combat housing discrimination, decide whether judicial candidates have a First Amendment right to solicit campaign contributions and weigh Arizona Republicans' challenge to an independent redistricting commission that is intended to take partisanship out of drawing political maps.

Since the headscarf is not a religious, but cultural piece of clothing, A&F may be safe here.

The Arizona case is frustrating, because the Republicans honestly wanted fair redistricting, so created a “nonpartisan” commission that was underhandedly packed with Democrats and liberals.

So guess what? Efforts at fairness backfired, because the left wanted nothing to do with fairness, and saw it as yet another opportunity to cheat.

So the AZ legislature now has to fight its own law before the Supreme Court.

I no wonder so many “Customer Service Agents” (I.e., “Salesmen/women”) look so unkept and scruffy!

When the courts told companies that they can no longer insist on certain dress and grooming standards, we lost the country!

Our local food chain had a muslim woman cashier who would refuse to scan beer, bacon, and other pork products. I would deliberately get in that line with exactly those items just to make her refuse, to which I would demand the Front End Manager, and force the woman to handle the bacon, pork and beer. Needless to say she didn’t last long

I detest muslims...every last one of them.
