If they were in the same room and hugged him; helped him to the toilet; were in the room when he vomited or defecated; If they cleaned up after him; if they wiped the sweat from him.

Close proximity is the key here.

It is not easy to get, but it doesn’t take very much exposure to kill you.

I’m speculating relatives. So imagine this scenario, Mr Duncan arrives in America. His relatives/fiends are so happy to see him. Can you imagine the hugs and kisses. Frightening.

Can you provide a source about the entrero virus? The research I did weeks ago indicated hardly any presence in South/Central America. It was mostly in Philippines.

I will do some research today, but I had not seen definitive proof that it came from the illegal kids.

Certainly, anecdotal evidence is out there. But I havent see any formal link.

Here is some text from a NIH study about the frequency of HEV in Latin America:

Overall, HRVs and HEVs were identified in 16% (548 samples) and 3% (84 samples) of the ILI cases, respectively. Among the HRVs, HRV-A was the most represented species (9% of ILI cases), followed by HRV-C (6%) and HRV-B (1%). Although the number of ILI samples collected among countries varied considerably (Figure 2, lower panel) we found no statiscally significant geographic differences in the proportions of HEV, HRV-A, HRV-B, and HRV-C.

The instances of HEV from Latin America are no more or less than the "pre breakout" statistics in the US.

And this about HEV-68 from the CDC (14 Sep 2014):

Thank you for your inquiry. From the scientific publications published to date, we are not aware of any EV-D68 detection in countries from Central America. However, it is most likely that the virus could be circulating there but in low numbers, undetected.

Yes. Most likely, relatives.

But! This makes Mr. Duncan doubly irresponsible then.

I can’t imagine doing “that” to my family and relatives.

Good points. The Ebola outbreak had a rather convenient timing associated with it. We must keep in mind that muslim terrorists can act to vector this disease.

How bout we think about suicidal muslims that are incubating said disease, then once symptomatic, moving about crowded areas, subways, trains, and the like,
and acting as the innocent vector? Make no mistake, they are thinking about it and the psychopath in the White House is too.

I have to chuckle a little bit.

Folks in the US are thinking this guy was intelligent.

With all of the publications in West Africa about Ebola, this guy is either the dumbest man alive, or evil incarnate.

I am voting for ignorant idiot myself. Your mileage might vary.

The number of people who came into contact with Texas Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan has zoomed from as many as 18 to 80.

Not counting the people on the planes... The number that REALLY matters is - HOW MANY of the over 4 million people libing in Liberia will figure out they can get world class FREE medical care for the price of a plane ticket?

The news said that the man from Liberia came to the United States to visit his girlfriend.

The girlfriend seems to have at least four children.

Just wondering: Are any of the children his?

How is the girlfriend supporting herself and her four children?

Just wondering.

Guaranteed she is on welfare, getting food stamps, and her apartment is Section 8.
Easy peasy.

“The enterovirus has been linked to Central American genotype”

Do you have a reference?
