California drought and climate warming: Studies find no clear link

Global warming contributed to extreme heat waves in many parts of the world last year, but cannot be definitively linked to the California drought, according to a report released Monday.

In the report, published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, 20 research teams explored the causes of 16 extreme weather events recorded in 2013, including torrential downpours in Colorado, heat waves in Korea and Australia and a blizzard in South Dakota.

The studies overwhelmingly showed that human-caused climate change played a role in the heat waves, in some cases making them 10 times more likely.

But the report editors wrote that "natural variability likely played a much larger role in the extreme precipitation events," whether it was flooding in India, deep snow in the Spanish Pyrenees Mountains or the California drought.

Well lets get rid of all the ILLEGA aliens from California that would help with water consumption

How will amnesty to tens of millions of illegals reduce warming?

We are taking those living in harmony with mother Gia and transforming thier carbon foot print to that of an American’s.

Nevertheless, a “prudent” response would be for them to stop driving their cars ...

For which we have absolutely no evidence, but we thought we'd just tell it to you as fact.

The whole thing makes me smile... I live upstream from the west coast by 500 miles, and I get 30,000 gallons a week to water my lawn. Of course that’s over-kill, but most of it goes into our aquifer. That’s a good thing.

My impression of the scientific method is: hypothesize, synthesize a test for it, test, analyze, repeat. So why don’t the libs try this and publish the results?

It was a butterfly in Burma. It flapped it’s wings at 133% of the normal rate and triggered massive global climate change.

I’ve heard that periodic droughts in CA are well documented in the tree-ring records. Every few hundred years, it just doesn’t rain much. The difference now is that there’s tens of millions of people there, using peak water, acting surprised, and complaining. And, the Colorado River’s flow is pretty well sopped up.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Exactly right but don’t forget the people who favor smelt over people. The current Central Valley drought was caused by liberals.

The California democrats have made the water inaccessible in favor of false environmental claims. They cut the water off intentionally and this is a manufactured drought.p in an area that previously had water resources available.

I moved to CA in ‘73 and the people were all going bonkers about the unprecedented drought. It comes and goes — Steinbeck wrote a lot about the drought cycles. Either people have very short memories, they are all newcomers to CA, or they are marxist true-believers.

At least now people are waking up to the fact we haven’t built any significant water infrastructure and the state doubled in population since the last dam was built.

I personally think the California drought has been caused by weather. Yep, regular old fashioned weather.

Now if there is something human suspect then it is probably the out of control environmentalism. Since the virtual assault on the California climate by the environmentalist since the ‘60s the climate in California has gone down hill.

My theory is California is having a drought because it isn’t raining and snowing enough. Less water = drier.

Do I win?

That and a lack of reservoirs (a moment of silence for the former reservoirs sacrificed in the name of bait fish) to capture the infrequent rain and snow.
