Republicans will remain focused on a security-first approach to immigration if they win control of the Senate, Sen. John Cornyn said Monday.
Our Democrat friends want to eat dessert before they eat their vegetables on immigration. I just dont think thats going to work, he said.
-snip-
Is a Republican-controlled Congress going to pass a quick pathway to citizenship? No, he said. But would there be an opportunity to vote on once border security was addressed, once the visa overstay was addressed and an e-verify system put in place, is there way then to look at how do we provide some way for people to earn a legal status so that they can stay and be productive? I think there is.

No amnesty. Repatriation.
I think you mean dessert. The Sahara is a desert.
.
The Republicans cannot stand to win. They are doing everything they can tip the balance of power to the Rats for decades to come.
The lack of processing these so called “immigrants” by regime policy over riding the constitutional duties of the IRS and dumping them in our schools where they can spread nefarious diseases should have not only the conservatives in congress but the leadership (republicans)screaming .Instead we’re getting silence.
There is a lot of benefit from retaking the senate, but don’t expect any big new legislation without a super majority like the dims had for obamacare.
I think they KNOW cracking down on illegals is a win SHORT TERM
BUT
They simultaneously believe that supporting some sort of comprehensive reform is the best LONG TERM strategy.
Now one can argue if they are right about the long term, considering amnesty didn't help Republicans for long after Reagan did it in the 80’s. But I think that's where the disconnect is.
Political Pandering knows no party just political whores...

NO ON CORNYN RESULTS AMENDMENT
http://heritageaction.com/key-votes/key-vote-cornyn-no-on-cornyn-results-amendment/
Cornyn has his election in the bag for this year and won’t need Chamber of Commerce money in his huge war chest for a little bit so is talking sooooooooo big on anti-immigration until January 1. Now if he can just unseat McConnell his turn is “next” to run the Senate and then he can change it all and partner up with Boner to push through wholesale amnesty.
“is there way then to look at how do we provide some way for people to earn a legal status so that they can stay and be productive? I think there is”
Amnesty by another name courtesy of the GOP establishment. I’ve grown to hate those traitors with a passion.
“Regularization” and “Close the border first” are two of the fool-the-rubes terms loved by the GOPe.
expect cornyn to sponsor a bill providing unlimited amnesty for the illegal invading horde the minute the pubbies take the senate.
Gads! What an embarrassing mistake! Thanks for catching it!
Without a serious fence system for the Border Patrol to actually watch and guard, the BP is forced to defend in depth. The southern border is 2,019 miles from sea to sea. If the Border Patrol check points are 40 miles from the border, agents must roam across an area of 80,000 square miles seeking illegal immigrants. This is a fools errand, deliberately futile. 80,000 square miles is the size of Idaho or Kansas.
The same number of border patrol agents actually guarding a physical barrier means that every inch of the border is under observation at all times. For example, anybody carrying a ladder to the fence will be seen, and stopped by nearby Border Patrol agents who react to their approach. That is why the San Diego fence is so effective. It needs to be extended across the entire border. Or, we can keep play-acting at border security, with the Border Patrol playing Keystone Kops across 80,000 square miles of rough scrub land terrain.
