Any country with debt bigger than it’s GDP needs to get out of bankruptcy first. Get our fiscal situation in order before borrowing more money from China for foreign military adventures.

If we stopped using the Federal purse to buy votes for Democrats, that would solve much of the deficit problem, as would a rationalization of the tax structure, and some modest changes to Social Security (like extending the retirement age).

After these changes are made, we should consider a "war" tax surcharge to fund what is necessary.

The reality is defending the nation is the government's #1 duty, but liberals and libertarians have diminished our nation's defensive capabilities to nearing pre-WWII levels. Ron Paul thinks we can defend ourselves with just two submarines for example.

Somehow absent from your scorn for spending is entitlement spending? Where have I heard that before?
