If that were the case, doncha think Assad’s sophisticated anti-aircraft defenses would target American aircraft - instead of remaining silent? If the US is secretly bombing Assad, it’s apparently so secret that even Assad doesn’t seem to be aware of it.

Grain silos are not ISIS. They are if they're in territory controlled by ISIS.

No they're not. The Russian Government and al-Assad's regime are allies - there's a difference. In case you've been living in a bunker the last 3.5 years, Syria is in the middle of a civil war and much of the country is in the control of groups fighting the regime.

The aircraft may have mistaken the mills and grain storage areas in the northern Syrian town of Manbij for an Islamic State base,?
I've seen a photo of a P-51 attacking a water tower in Germany during WW II because it looked like a flak tower. Mistakes like that do happen.
