It's something you would expect from a sanity challenged fringe blog or from the usual suspects such as the Democratic Underground or the Daily Kos. Instead the latest example of global warming wackiness is coming from the Gray Lady herself, the New York Times. This is an actual unchallenged quote in a Times article by Jennifer A. Kingson Alaska is going to be the next Florida by the end of the century.

Whew. I was worried when I first saw the header but seeing that it won't be until 2100, I feel much better. Yup. That gives them plenty of time to move disney world to Denali from Orlando. After all, by then Orlando will be under water from all the melting frozen water in antarctica right? Stupider and stupider. Can I get a palm tree concession?

I am delighted that the New York Times cartooned-up itself like this.
They look like complete morons.
Keep printing this stuff, NYT! LOL!

Globull warming alarmists have never let something so trivial as facts get in the way of a good propaganda campaign.

It would be quite a boon for Alaska if its climate could come to resemble Florida’s. With no permafrost and a long growing season, the Big State would become a major producer of agricultural products.

Actually, I'm thinking the opposite....maybe we can convince all the libs that they need to move to Canada to protect themselves from impending floods. It's in the Times...they can't be wrong.

Professor Mora said. Washington, D.C., will reach its tipping point the same year, under his model; Los Angeles has until 2048; San Francisco, 2049 and Chicago, 2052. Detroit has until 2051, and Anchorage, 2071. LOL - Mora forgot to mention - the tipping point for San Francisco comes at three o'clock in the afternoon.
In my day these 'the world's ending' types had the courtesy of walking around with sandwich boards... and the New York Times did cartoons on them. How times have changed.

Equal opportunity tree hugging for Alaskans. Why should Floridians get all that good stuff?
So what happens to Florida then? Change their name to Mercury?

There was a finite amount of water when the Earth was formed. Some liquid, some solid and some vapor. If you fill a glass with ice cubes and add water to the brim, what happens when that ice melts?
Another thing to ponder. What caused the Ice Age and what caused it to end. The NYT thinks that puny humanity can affect the planet?

Isn’t Alaska like half the size of Conus? Plenty of room for everyone.
Maybe I should buy up a couple hundred square miles of tundra while it’s cheap. Be nice to have a decent-size spread of temperate land.
