From the point of view of keeping the seat Republican, Wolf is doing the right thing. The reality is that Orman has a good chance of winning the seat anyway. If Wolf can get him to commit to caucusing with the GOP, the seat is effectively a Republican one regardless of the outcome.

I wonder how long it would be before the Dems announce that their candidate is okay to hold office after all and that he should be allowed back in the race if Orman announces he’ll caucus with the Republicans.

I didn’t think of that.

When I read the article I thought Wolf had sour grapes.
But your comment shows that Wolf has a good strategy.

By supporting a liberal Democrat, Wolf is showing that he was in the race for something besides some deep seated conservative belief. I don't think that Orman will agree to this and it may be a good means of smoking him out as the Democrat he truly is. But, if he does agree I have doubts that he would keep his word. He could invent all sorts of excuses about how he was forced to reconsider given the egregious behavior of certain extremists, etc.

Dreamer! Orman is a RAT. HIs “word” would not mean anything once elected.
