Supporters say immigration law could pass — with a GOP Senate

Pro-immigration reform Republicans say there's a better chance that Congress will produce an immigration overhaul if their party wins control of the upper chamber in November.

GOP lawmakers say that with Republicans in charge of both chambers, leadership in the House would have a negotiating partner across the Capitol they could trust.

Republicans also would have more leverage with President Obama in negotiating a bill to secure the border and deal with the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants already in the United States. “With the caveat that it's a very difficult issue, I think the likelihood is better if Republicans take the Senate,” said Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.), a leading GOP voice for immigration reform.

“I think there would certainly be greater trust between the House and Senate in agreeing on something,” said Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.), who like Diaz-Balart supports providing a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. “This is an American issue. So I expect this party to come together on it. And I'm going to continue driving it.”

Another key factor for Republicans is the 2016 election.

They're going to keep pushing this and pushing this. And this is also another reason why they wanted to protect Roberts and Cochran, and McConnell, and Graham and Alexander, and worked to thwart and "crush" every conservative.

America really needs to start supporting America once again.

Bring back jobs to America.

And hire Americans.

Neither party seems to give one flying **** about Americans anymore.

Both of our parties are so sold out, it is disgusting.

An open letter to the GOP Members of Congress

As a Representative or Senator in Congress, you took this Oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

"Support and defend the Constitution" it says. Did you see that? That document, in turn, requires, per Art.4, S.4, that

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

An invasion is what we are suffering. That invasion has accelerated with each "comprehensive immigration reform" previously enacted. Instead of another disastrous reform that yet again increases the incentives for millions more to try their luck crossing the southern border, a Member of Congress who took his Oath and the Constitution seriously would be pressing for what the American people have repeatedly said they want - not what Senators Schumer and McCain, Rep. Paul Ryan, Mark Zuckerberg, Mexico, some border state farmers and homebuilders or the Chamber of Commerce rent-seekers want. That is:
  1. secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;
  2. end the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment;
  3. enforce eVerify without exception and with severe penalties;
  4. end chain migration - entry per individual qualifications, not family ties;
  5. deportation upon contact with any law enforcement agency - federal, state or local
  6. no government benefits beyond critical emergency care (and that ought to be billed back to the home government); and
  7. NO "Path to Citizenship" - EVER - for anyone who has entered the US illegally.
Any measure that does not accomplish these things is unacceptable. It is de facto amnesty. And it will inevitably, ineluctably encourage millions and millions more illegal entries.

If the GOP is complicit in granting amnesty - and any action that permits those who entered the US illegally to benefit from that illegal act is amnesty - the GOP will cease to exist. It will not survive through the 2016 elections. The people will shun the over-tanned, glad-handing, backslapping quislings and look elsewhere for leaders who actually have the spine for the fight. Make no mistake - to me and to many, many others, amnesty is the GOP's Rubicon. Cross it at your electoral peril.

"Could"? I've never doubted it. The GOPe wants it as badly as the rats, if for different reasons. They can't possibly be so stupid as to think they'll get the majority of the gib-me voters' votes, so they must not care about that.

Our “representatives” are electing a new people, as the present constituents are proving unsatisfactory, for varying reasons.

Anyone using the 11 million figure immediately loses credibility. That figure has been used for years, as though it was static. There must be close to that number in Texas and California alone.

What they care about is funding social security. As I understand it, SS started calling its bonds back a few years ago, meaning it’s out of money. They think this will help fund that.

My immigration reform plan is a simple three step program:

1) Secure the {expletive} border. Yes with a fence. Yes with sensors and guards and reaction forces. I said secure.

2) Begin immediate apprehension and deportation proceedings on an estimated 11 million criminals. You want a jobs program? How about a bounty on illegals? Note, if you leave of your own accord immediately once this starts, you may be allowed to immigrate legally later. If we have to find you and throw you out, you will never be allowed in the US again, even as a visitor.

3) Enforce the {expletive} laws we have on the books now.

Hey DC, how about we try that for a change? You know, a nation of laws, not a nation of arbitrary whims of man. You (DC) do not get to pick and choose which laws you enforce and which ones you don't. I know that's going to mightily disappoint Mr. Holder but tough **** Eric.

GOPe wants to move the entire electorate to the left because they have no interest in governing a conservative manner. Marginalizing conservatives and becoming CINO is the easiest way to beltway power for them.

I think this is part of the problem.

Illegal immigration is blatantly a (huge) problem, but it is limited geographically at the moment.

There is a huge section of America which doesn’t get it.

Immigration is a big, big problem. Right now.

Maybe someone should tell Jeff Denham (Ahole, California) that illegal aliens kill 25 Americans every day. If he ever gets runs over by an illegal, the needle on my “give a crap meter” will not budge.

Post # 6 from NotTallTex hit the nail on the head....11 million illegals in America? Maybe in the early to mid 1990’s. It’s probably more like 40 million to 50 million.

A GOP Senate that passes this crap will be the end of the GOP (and the country). Like Rush has said, Obama doesn’t really want to pass “immigration reform” aka AMNESTY unless he can blame the republicans for it at some point. A GOP controlled Senate passing “immigration reform” would be the perfect vehicle for Obama to do just that.

Put the active duty military on the border, boot out all illegals. No welfare, no EBT cards, no in-state tuition, no NOTHING for illegal aliens.

Jeb Bush says those murders are “acts of love.”

It doesn’t matter how effectively a Republican House and Senate can negotiate a secure border with the Sultan. He will not enforce and will actively defy any such guarantees, meanwhile enthusiastically implementing a Republican Amnesty and using it as an excuse to bring in and naturalize as much of Central America as he can induce to come north. By the end of his term the new coined and printed money will be bilingual.

There was an interesting comment made here yesterday. I would credit the freeper, if I could remember the name:
(para.) `Our border with Mexico is a mere de facto border, and our government is operating under the premise of a North American Union.’

Of course if this is true, it would be treason, and by the government itself, against the Constitution they all took an oath to protect.

But it would explain a lot of things, particularly an issue high on your/FR’s agenda:
Why is the American government exporting American jobs and killing American jobs (e.g. Obamacare) while rewarding alien invaders with de facto citizenship?

All notions of America being a nation of laws, and not men, set aside for the sake of this argument, I’ll propose the conclusion that our own government does these things because they believe:
our southwestern border is a legal fiction,
and,
illegal aliens are already be Americans.
