Not sure I’ve seen that. There has been a good bit of outrage aimed at the players. Goodell’s actions in the rice case allowed Rice to “get away with it” until the video surfaced. What happened after the video came to light should have happened originally. Goodell is a huge liability IMHO.
Goodell has been criticized for years for being too much of an executioner. Now, for some unknown reason, he goes way too light on Ray Rice and everyone wants his head? What gives? Do they regret complaining about his hard ass ways all of a sudden......or have they found Jesus and finally appreciate Goodells hard-ass ways? By the way, Ray Rice was the one who smacked his wife down. That’s the bottom line fact that really matters.
Protected class, X2?............
DING! DING! DING! WE HAVE A WINNAH!.........................
I have no dog in this hunt, but this is NOT a free speech issue. Simmons was not hauled away to jail for saying what he did on twitter. He was not prosecuted by the government. That is what free speech guarantees — freedom from government prosecution. Free speech does not mean consequence-free speech. ESPN was well within their rights to suspend Simmons for his comments, although I don’t agree that doing so was necessarily the right thing to do.
KIRKLAND, Wash. — Soccer star Hope Solo was arrested by police outside Seattle overnight on two counts of alleged domestic violence assault, CBS Seattle affiliate KIRO-TV reports.
The fourth-degree assault charge resulted from a 911 caller who said a woman was “hitting people,” Kirkland police said. The caller also said Solo wouldn’t stop or leave the house where the alleged assault took place.
Police said Solo appeared intoxicated and upset when they questioned her. After talking to Solo and others, police observed visible injuries on Solo’s 17-year-old nephew and her sister.
Police called Solo the primary aggressor in the alleged assault.
Solo was booked into a regional jail at 4:15 a.m. Saturday. Police said she will remain there over the weekend until her first court appearance Monday.
Solo is the goalkeeper for the Seattle Reign in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Thanks.
It appears there is [yet another] double-standard.
