I watched a BBC show, and they mentioned the Prince Regent, aka the Prince of W(h)ales at the time, was doing 250 drops/day of laudanum (no idea what translates into current opiates) for his gout.
Perhaps Richard Nixon's phlebitis, or a hip needs replacing?
