The first 5 minutes at least Rand Paul is 100% correct.

I don’t agree that we need to go in now though.

Great speech by Paul, if he had not gone soft on illegal immigration I would be a supporter of his. He certainly “gets it” that arming Syrian “rebels” is a very bad idea.

Rand Paul could get a lot of support if he comes up with a lot less aggressive foreign policy than the US has now, calling for defending US borders, combined with a demand to get freedoms restored for US citizens.

Paul is good on most issues, but illegal immigration is a deal breaker for me. I’m hoping Cruz gets the nomination but if it’s Paul vrs any Democrat Paul gets my vote.

FWIW, I think RandPaul's more recent statements about stopping the invasion of the US have been pretty good.

I like Cruz, too, of course. But on foreign affairs he doesn't seem to have formulated an independent vision, so I worry he could fall into the globalist agenda.

I'd like to dust off Steve Forbes and even Dan Quayle (Jeff Sessions might be okay for foreign affairs). They were knocked out of consideration for the nomination when GWB was pre-ordained by the powers that be. The country just might be ready for responsible mature adults with specialties in finance and foreign affairs trying to clean up the mess the US is in.

From another thread

jpsb to Alberta's Child

It is a real shame that the bots elected W instead of the vastly more conservative, inteligent and capable Steve Forbes. I did all I could back in 2000. Oh well, elections have consequences and we are now paying a heavy price for not electing Forbes in 2000.

Quayle, rightly or wrongly is damaged goods. I do like Sessions and of course I'd be all in for Forbes.

The only serious misstep I've seen Cruz make was on Egypt were he wanted to punish Egypt's military for throwing out the duly elected Muslim Brotherhood. (Paul made the same mistake). But I get your point that he needs to formulate a better world view then it comes to Islamists.

Still liking what he said and agreeing with him, except if there is any hint of going back into the middle east with ground troops.

They psychology of previous investment (such protecting our gazillion dollar new embassy in Iraq) is not a good enough excuse to spill more American blood. We should not have built a gazillion dollar new embassy in Iraq, a region of the world which has NEVER in the entire history of history been a stable place.

We don’t need to spill blood to ‘save face’ as Paul said, and that includes things like this.

2 wrongs don’t make a right.
