She’s feeling better today. The doc (old friend, and ready to retire and his office doesn’t take Medicare anymore) said it would be 4 to 6 weeks for all the swelling and inflammation to go down. Her knee is a candidate for a complete knee replacement, but her age is not. She would not have agreed to it anyway.
My sister will probably come up in late October to be here when I have her appointment with a new doctor that takes Medicare. Then we will shop for one of those recliners that stands you up...you don’t have to lever yourself out of the chair.
It takes her several tries to get to a standing position and then we see if the knees choose to function. I have the home care folks coming for an assessment early this coming week, and the medical alert pendant is ordered.
AND the doctor, YES the doctor, said that her cane is now part of her....I have been preaching this for weeks, but now I have backup...THE DOCTOR SAID!!! Hurrah!! The usual response I get is, “I’m only going here, I only have to go a little ways”, etc.
