After 'Devo Max' there must be an English Parliament ("What a farce" says leading journalist)

If Scotland votes Yes, which the polls show is a definite possibility, the very word 'Britain' will no longer have any meaning.

But what if the Scots say No? That still looks the most likely outcome.

Even if Alex Salmond is being entirely straight when he says that this is a 'once in a lifetime' vote, and the SNP really won't push for another referendum in a few years' time, don't think that we can all go back to normal and the UK is saved.

Quite the opposite.

Because the logic of what has been promised by the main party leaders to the Scots, if they vote No, points to something so unprecedented and so far removed from anything our constitution has ever involved that it will change the UK forever - and possibly destroy it.

So if they Scots decide to stay in, by 2015 and “devo-max,” the average Englishman may want to kick them out.

Is it possible the Scots don’t want to be near Londonistan or a part of Euroarabia?

The head of the SNP wants socialist utopia, just one with a Scottish accent.

Seems to me, if they went that route, they would be moving closer to our own Federal system.

Sounds like they need to Whip It, or they’ll end up Workin’ in a Coal Mine.

England is the only constituent member of the United Kingdom without its own parliament/assembly. Westminster, formerly the English parliament, has been the Union parliament since 1707. This has to change.

But hopefully the Scots will vote "yes" and England can be England again (though I'm sure people will still be calling it "Britain").

Vote NO, and lets reform the UK as a whole.

From what I’ve read if it is YES it means getting rid of the socialist loons from Scotland. This would be like losing Oregon Washington and California with all those Democrats - not bad. This is why Cameron said he wants a NO because it would be putting country over party.
A YES if this is right, means an easier to work with England once we get a conservative in the White House - if we ever do.

My reasons for wishing for the breakup of the Union are private and very idiosyncratic. But as an American I have no vote in the matter, so there's no need to worry about me.

I'm just going to sit back and see how it turns out.
