French society seemingly apathetic to anti-Semitism, says chief rabbi

PARIS - France's government has reacted strongly to a rising tide of anti-Semitic acts this year but French society seems indifferent to the threat they present, the country's newly elected chief rabbi said on Tuesday.

Haim Korsia, who was elected in June, recalled the huge crowds that demonstrated in Paris in 1990 after a Jewish cemetery was desecrated in the southeastern town of Carpentras.

This summer, he told journalists, there was no similar reaction from civil society following attacks on synagogues and protests against Israel's offensive in Gaza, during which some marchers shouted "death to Jews" and "Jews out".

"There were a million people in the street then," he said, referring to 1990. "In France (now), have you seen a march of support saying it's inadmissible to attack houses of worship?

"What struck us was the sense of indifference in the society."

The Nazis were astounded by how enthusiastically the French carried out their orders to round up the Jews.

Nothing has changed. Thank God my great-grandfather left that country.

“The Nazis were astounded by how enthusiastically the French carried out their orders to round up the Jews.”

‘Tis very true.

“The round-up, known as the Vel d’Hiv Rafle after the velodrome where most of the 13,152 Jews from Paris and its banlieues were taken, accounted for more than a quarter of the 42,000 Jews sent from France to Nazi concentration camps in 1942, of whom only 811 returned.

The raids were codenamed Operation Spring Breeze by French police, who were said to have worked with an enthusiasm that surprised the German occupiers who had commanded them.”

he is correct.

people were told if they judge right from wrong then they’re evil or they’re too judgemental.

Average white people are told they’re only free of racism if they open the floodgates to hordes of people whose values are utterly unlike their own, or opposite to their own.

this is all bad but it makes a logical conclusion of a long term plan.

We’re simply seeing the consequences.
