Wonder what his Army dad’s specialty was. Officers aren’t usually marksmen, not their job.

I was. I qualified expert on every weapon in the basic infantry TO&E, I was also made XO of the Division pistol team (composite bullseye). I think all infantry officers should be expert marksmen. When I did that rare move of a branch transfer to Armor, I did the same thing with the tank.
