After last year's profits NFL team owners enjoyed, politicians have their hands out. They have them open if you volunteer to contribute, and they have a fist in the other hand to extort it from you.

Choices are nice.

The NFL salary cap is tied to the TV revenue. I don’t recall the exact percentage, but each team’s salary cap is less than each team’s TV revenue. While there are other expenses for NFL teams, basically an NFL owner is in the black on TV money before he sells a single ticket, jersey, hot dog or stadium parking spot. And don’t forget the tax breaks he squeezed out of the local potentates when they built his billion dollar playground for him.

Being an NFL owner is like owning an entire oilfield that never runs dry. You cannot lose money. Which is why the average franchise is valued at over one billion dollars.
