Criticized for zealously defending a cop killer, President Barack Obamas beleaguered nominee to lead to the Justice Departments civil rights division has withdrawn his nomination.
The law firm of WilmerHale said Debo Adegbile has returned to private practice in its New York office. The White House confirmed that Mr. Adegbile withdrew his nomination.
The Senate blocked Mr. Adegbiles nomination in March, with critics citing his representation of Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was convicted 30 years ago of murdering a Philadelphia police officer.
As the former head of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Mr. Adegbile helped Abu-Jamal get his death sentence overturned.
Both of Pennsylvanias senators, Democrat Robert P. Casey and Republican Patrick J. Toomey, voted against the nomination. Mr. Toomey called the nominee an extremist, radical Abu-Jamal defender.

I think he was in all three of the “Friday “ movies
Whose he gonna nominate next? Jomo Kenyatta? Calypso Louie (Louis Farakhan)??
Has Eric the Corrupt have any relatives that are lawyers and not presently serving time?
LOL! Wouldn’t be a surprise at all if he nominated Calypso Louie.
The Debo Adegbile story has ended. The White House yesterday pulled his nomination to head the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division after it was defeated on a procedural vote in the Senate in March. PJ Media was the first to report on the radical background of Adegbile within hours of the nomination being made. After Adegbile wasdefeated in a procedural vote, left wing groups held out hope that another vote would be scheduled in the Senate and Democrats who opposed Adegbile would suddenly support him. That didnt happen.
Now there is little chance that a nominee to head the Civil Rights Division can be confirmed before the November elections. If Republicans take control of the Senate, dont expect the White House to nominate someone with Adegbiles radical background.
