I finally watched the videos.

Too low-res and blurred to be sure, but I’m not sure he punched her at all. She attacked him soon after they got in the elevator, he backed up, she pursued and made another try at hitting him.

Then he swung at her. When he did, her head and body jerked violently to the left, not back, as one would expect from a punch.

I suppose he could have thrown a roundhouse punch that caught her on the side of the head, creating the movement shown, but it looks more consistent to me with a solid slap rather than a punch. It’s notable that there’s no blood to be seen in the aftermath, on the floor or on either of their clothes. A solid punch from a guy this big and I’d expect some bleeding.

It also looks like she may have hit her head on the steel rail after being slapped/punched.

I also find it more than a little bizarre that nobody is commenting on the obvious fact that SHE started the domestic violence and HE ended it. This is simply not an example of the stereotypical notion of “domestic violence,” where the evil man corners the helpless and utterly innocent woman and beats the snot out of her with sadistic glee.

” but I’m not sure he punched her at all.”

Get real. He punched her. He even said he did. Go back to watching your heros Ray Lewis and Aaron Hernandez ...

All good points, and pretty much what I saw on the video. I think the prosecutor would have a tough time getting a conviction. She also could have been drunk.

I have a problem with the NFL, NBA, or anybody else doling out punishments without any due process, but plenty of sensationalism in the press. In the case of Donald Sterling, the recording of his conversation was illegal.

A 212 pound professional football player in top physical shape honed by an exercise regimen including weight training knocks out a 115 pound drunk woman with his fist. Is that proportional to the threat posed by this woman? Get real.

MJK was alone and driving the car when she went off the bridge?

Yes she hit her head on the rail, and that is what knocked her out. That has been reported. It has also been reported that yes, he connected his punch and hit her.

They were both arrested for domestic violence, but only Rice was prosecuted. So yes they were both fighting. But here’s the difference - her slaps and spits have no possibility of killing Rice. Rice darn near killed her...because he’s much, much stronger than her.

Outside of the public eye, this case seems to have on track for a normal outcome - probation for Rice. So no he’s not the devil incarnate...but it really doesn’t matter if she ‘started it’ - he really could have killed her. Thus he was the one put on probation and not her.

Like Israel against hamas, he used “disproportionate” force.

And actually AJ Delgado commented on that very thing on Hannity, and got a dose of “progressive violence” in return.

I told my lovely wife about this, and she'd never heard of it. No bias in the media, whatsoever.

I saw the video, too, and my interpretation was exactly the same as yours. My $0.02? He shouldn't have hit her, but she surely didn't help herself at all.

And, this is miles away from a helpless female being beaten by a sadistic male. The discussion, really, has little to do with the actual events.

Agreed, Sherman.

I did finally see a very slow speed of this on FOX, so I could finally see his fuzzy hand touching her face at one point. I think now there is no doubt he did something with her face, just not sure exactly what. It is still unclear, no matter how everyone wants outrage.

Your post is spot on. Likewise your replies regarding how he did not simply drag her out so carelessly.

Neither is it considered how drunk they were, which was repeated over again months ago, with witnesses. Especially the woman, whom I recall was described as aggressive in the bar area. They were both arrested.

I did not see anything so horrible about Rice trying to pick her up by himself when he is tipsy and she was as well as unconscious. What was he supposed to do?

And, he is NOT a “big guy”, a common refrain here as if all footballers are huge dudes. I assure you, Rice is not at all big. Not even this woman’s height.
