I have always hated the term “homeland security.”

So have I...thought we already had a "Department of Defense".

It did generate some economic activity by things like forcing many state and local agencies to abandon their existing radio systems in order to have “interoperability”. That probably prevented some layoffs in the private sector, but it was in most cases completely unnecessary, or the same goals could have been met much less expensively. But hey, it’s fun tos spend other peoples money!

The money spent is worse than a total waste; it serves only to foster an environment of lawlessness, incompetence, and enormous inconvenience for Americans.

In short, it’s a disgrace which siphons needed funds away from legitimate programs.

From whose point of view?

Open borders?, terrorists without passports necessary?,
Fast&furious?, letting murderers and rapists go free?...
Recruiting and sending infected to all 57 states?

Absolute success for the Enemies of America and its Constitution.

If you use the term “homeland” without gagging ....you just might be a neocon. ;)

Worse than a waste of money. Throwing money down a sewer would have been a better investment.

They could shut down the “Homeland Security” Department tomorrow and nobody would miss it. Okay, maybe the fascist DemocRATS would.

DHS? - $1 Trillion

Making politicians look like they’re “doing something” after people panic? - PRICELESS!

Mein fuehrer comrade, I agree.
“Homeland security” sounds like something out of the novel `Ninteen Eightyfour’ or a German noun from 1938, and it’s about as necessary as the Departments of Education and Energy. (and on and on)
The statists—not just Democrats—think the solution to every problem is to set up another agency, bureau or department. Once set up, like a head cold, impossible to terminate but worse since they never go away.
Mission: secure the homeland.
Bool sheet!
The DHS: good pay, great benefits, pension—AND you get to push people around.
Like I said, Orwellian and Nazi.

when DHS confiscated s_u_v’s lacking the proper engine serial numbers, how on earth does that enhanced security of the US...??

When DHS busts boston area strip clubs for having counterfeit NFL merchandise, how does that enhance the security of the u_s homeland...??

The republican and democrat response to the Sept. 11 attacks was to declare war on the civil liberties and privacy of the American people. Brilliant.

The so-called Department of Homeland Security is a domestic Stasi in the making.

And we’ve got wide open borders to boot.

Homeland is a bad term, very unAmerican, that should not be used.

Never liked it.

We have domestic security.

-- Who started the DHS? --

George Bush, June 2002, but the plan or suggestion was in place before 9/11/2001.

See The U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century (USCNS/21), also known as the Hart-Rudman Task Force on Homeland Security, chartered by Secretary of Defense William Cohen in 1998, for more.

Homeland is a horse Shiite perjorative and yes; $1 trillion has be squandered on idiotic programs and some really stoopit people as TSA jerk offs, who perform nothing particularly well that wasn’t being done before 911.
