It would be an act of war against Russia if the U.S. did so. Uh, if memory serves, the U.S. signed a treaty to assist in the defense of Ukraine if they were to dismantles and remove their Russian nukes. Of course, the idiots voted into office a limp-wristed, narcissistic, panty waist who is disinterested in everything outside of the perks of the position of president.

..."the U.S. signed a treaty to assist in the defense of Ukraine if they were to dismantles and remove their Russian nukes." Just asking, because I don't know - was there an actual treaty, ratified by the Senate and all that, or was it just some b.s. "memorandum of understanding" type thing?

It was not a treaty, but the
Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances, which was only a political agreement, and not a ratified treaty. Therefore it is not worth the paper it was written on, and the Ukrainians were foolish enough to sign it and give up their nukes.
