Scotland, you want out? We'll take your place (US reunification with UK)

(CNN) -- Here's a question that seems to be lost in the debate over the Scottish independence vote scheduled for September 18:

I realize that Americans fought a bloody war of independence from England in the late 1700s, but our rifts have healed over the past 240 years. In 2013, the Pew Research Center reported that England topped America's list of favorite nations, in a near-tie with our beloved northern neighbor, Canada.

In the past few years, as America has degenerated into political and economic chaos, it has become increasingly clear that we would be far better off if we apologized for our revolt against the Crown and requested to rejoin the United Kingdom.

Because Great Britain is in so much better shape than we are. LOL

No wonder the guy didn’t sign this with his own name. He wanted to leave some doubt about who the moron was who wrote this drivel.

So people go into journalism because the newsrooms have free marijuana, cocaine, hashish and booze?

I’m just looking for the country that still believes in freedom. Any ideas where to look?

It’s a small number of lefties causing all the commotion.

David R. Wheeler lives in Lexington, Kentucky, where he is a freelance writer and a journalism professor at Asbury University.

Anybody want to chip in for a one way ticket to England for this maroon.

There are four main ways America would benefit from unification with the UK: Brits have better health, less inequality, excellent manners and -- let's face it -- a superior culture.

Uh huh.

Regardless of the value of the money, I’d rather take my chances with Australia.

Texas: A country before and, at the rate things are going, a country again.

Well 1 Australian Dollar equals 0.90 US Dollars.

So that isn't that bad I guess :)

Skydancer will fly us down there and we could live in a FReeper commune :)

Part lefties, part nationalists still disgusted by the Act of Union (1707). The Scots have on display the document listing the bribes paid by the government to Scottish noblemen to get their votes in favor of union. Names and amounts.

As the song goes, "We were bought and sold for English gold/Such a parcel of rogues in a nation."

Like the current American politicians doing the same thing for Chinese and Saudi gold.

Besides, doesn’t he mean he wants the US to join the British Commonwealth? England, Great Britain, and the UK are all terms that apply to various fractions of the British Isles. At least describe your dumb ideas in the correct terminology.

If we’re going to join with a country, it should be Scotland.
