Robert Kennedy’s killer, Sirhan Sirhan, was a Christian Palestinian who killed Kennedy for his support of Israel.

You are quite correct about the seductive psychology involved. The human mind tends to avoid disturbing and dangerous conflicts through "dissonance reduction" that harmonizes perceptions to expectations. One way of doing this is to adopt beliefs that tailor perceptions to that purpose even if those beliefs are transparently untrue.

Trapped in a world of brutal political realities, poverty, failed states, lost wars, and ruined ideals, the Arabs in general and the Palestinians in particular are prone to mislead themselves through self-invented false ideas. As brilliantly described by the late Fouad Ajami in "Dream Palace of the Arabs," the Palestinians crafted a collective false memory of a near paradise before dispossession by Israel.

For Palestinians, this vast imagined edifice of false memories of cozy homes and prosperous villages, and of lush olive groves and productive fields -- all cruelly and unjustly taken by the Jews -- is an ever renewing source of nostalgia, shared bitterness, and a defining identity.

Thus hostility toward Israel is part of the fundamental mental framework of even most Palestinian Christians. The reality of course is that the Palestinians lost wars again and again that they provoked and participated in against Israel. The Palestinians then foolishly failed to make a peace that could provide the basis for prosperity and self-government.

Consumed by hatred and hope for revenge, the Palestinians are scorned even by their fellow Arabs for their habitual violence and criminality. Even as the Palestinians subvert their best prospects for their future, they know that all blame attaches -- not to them -- but to the Jews and their American ally.

Meanwhile, the freest, best educated, and most prosperous Muslims and Christians in the Middle East are those who are Israeli citizens, with those in the US even more fortunate. The lesson contained within that simple observation though seems to elude virtually all Palestinians.

What you describe is exactly what scares me with regard to current events. We are dealing with a large swath of people who spend 100% of their time deluding themselves.

“Then they are NOT Christians”

Just like they are not Palestinians. If people would just read the bible they would know the TRUTH of why everything is happening today, and, of what will happen in the very near future to ALL flesh who goes against Israel. It is written, and cannot be changed that they will be destroyed by God.

There IS going to be a time soon when Israel is surrounded by her enemies. And it will seem like their ‘darkest hour’....BUT, it will be then that God comes to Israel’s defense HIMSELF, destroying her enemies, which are His enemies, for the last time. And then, it’s “game over”, and the end of the AGE of mankind.

I hope the light has been shown on those who are still yet in the dark as to how “close” we REALLY are to Christ’s Return! Repent now and get saved. It’s a free gift from God, forgiveness will come as fast as you can ask for it, and life after this one lasts for an eternity. He does not care about what we may have done if we repent, and ask for forgiveness with a true heart. He also NEVER remembers the things we’ve done to offend Him after we’ve repent of those things, and have asked for forgiveness...turning from them.

Those who understand that the world is on the cusp of it’s last breath, KNOWS that Christ’s Return is nigh, therefore, only passing forward an attempt to wake up the rest of the sleeping masses. We are to do this for humanity. To do it because Hell is not a place God wants anyone to go. He made it for the devil and his angels, not people. And we know because we are told by God that people will go there. Even some Christians will go there. Maybe many. And, to do it because there will never be anything, ever again, that surpasses a blissful eternity with God, and Jesus. In their full Glory, as we shall be. God warns us with good reason, but we also know that mankind does not obey God...it does so to the flesh, instead. God said, that we cannot DO both. We have to choose one. And the one we choose “now”, will be the one we know forever. Either way.

So, it is a fact when upon our death we will reopen our eyes to either everlasting glory, or everlasting shame and contempt.

Ted Cruz could not have spoken any truer words.

If Cruz is the GOP nominee in 2016, Jews will vote at least 3:1 against him. It is a continual mystery to me that so many of my fellow Republicans continue to lust after the Jewish vote, when the Jewish vote is overwhelmingly pro-abortion and pro-homosexual.

I bet not. Sen. Cruz will be seen as a principled philo-semite. He is different than the rest.

For those of us who were posting here at FR on 9-11-01, there was one thing I said that almost remains unnoticed.....

The reaction of the Arab world was disgusting. Radical Islam celebrated, while moderates (with a very few exceptions) remained very silent. This silence is evidenced by my tag line, and my position that this thing finally ends with a massive Islam versus Christian/Jew war.

99.9% of the population chooses not to accept or believe that, but the overwhelming intent of Islam is to destroy or convert the infidels and non-believers. Our enemy understands the stakes..... too bad our PC polluted society doesn't.

How can you call yourself a Christian, yet not support Israel?
As recently as a hundred years ago, Jewish people were discriminated against quite regularly in most of the Christian world. So I’m not surprised. - lacrew
People who intentionally separate themselves from us naturally tend to provoke an equivalent reaction from us. And vice versa.

It seems impossible that slavery could have existed on a huge scale in America - but it did, and it was run by people who sincerely thought of themselves as Christians. Stonewall Jackson owned one slave - whom he bought reluctantly, at the behest of the slave himself. He also got into a serious disagreement with a friend over the fact that Jackson taught a Sunday School for slaves. And he died talking about heaven.

And outright abolition of slavery was not a mainstream political position even in the North at the start of the Civil War, particularly in light of the fact that everyone recognized that the South had a tiger by the tail in that respect.

Don’t assume that every moral position you hold will seem the same to your great grandchildren as it does to you. If history is any guide, some things might seem quite different in retrospect.

The Bible teaches that the Jews are God’s chosen people. Has that changed?

Any “Christian” that is anti Israel is no Christian at all. Matters not if they are Arabs or not.

BUMP.

This is the first article I have seen, which identified that the group was Arab. Hugely important detail.

Bump.

It has nothing to do with lusting after the Jewish vote.

Israel is our ONLY ally in the Middle East. They have been dependable and valuable.

In my view, they are also still loved by God and the family of peoples from which comes our Savior. “God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.”

Cruz chooses to go with God.

I agree that Christians should be pro-Israel. I will allow this for the Arab Christians. They have been raised amid tremendous anti-Israel propaganda their entire lives. They have a lot of baggage to outgrow.

That said, this conference was in the USA and not in the Syria or Iraq. They were in no danger. They should have politely allowed Cruz to deliver his speech.

I was here in 2001, and I agree. We were disgusted by the Arab hatred of America....the celebrations, the seemingly universal condemnation of America by ALL of the average people of the middle east....except Israel. Israel grieved with us.

No.

But that doesn’t change what I said, either.

True but I am more of the opinion they (the arab "christians") are wolves (muslims) in sheep's clothing.

But then that is just me and my opinion.

And those are some effedup people. That’s how long they’ve been banging their sisters and marrying their goats-—ain’t she purty? Maybe some enterprising newsbleep could interview one of the fake Christian palis to find out what his axe-to-grind is actually about?
