Going into the final stretch of President Barack Obamas presidency, as Americansand particularly African Americansbegin to form opinions about his legacy on issues of race (that is, what hes done for black people), theyll look back to a couple of great rhetorical moments and key policy successes, but theyll also remember that he was perhaps too cautious when responding to national conversations about race. At the same time, Attorney General Eric Holders approach on race issues seems to be far more outspoken, and his actions more deliberate.

What’s the difference? They’ve both destroyed any advance in race relations made in my lifetime. It will take another lifetime just to recover what they’ve fouled up.
And they ain’t done yet!
