I gave my soldier son several Beanie Babies to take with him during his deployment to Kuwait in the Fall of 2002 and then into Iraq where his unit was one of the first over the border.
On the dashboard of his 12-15 Ton truck (hauling bridging equipment for his unit, the 299th Army Reserve (activated) MRB, out of Ft. Belvoir, Va.), was an American Eagle and a Jewish Star wearing dog.
They went through his whole tour and then they were gifted to my granddaughter by “Uncle Josh”.
Ironically, here was a Jewish American soldier and his Jewish Beanie Baby dog returning to their biblical home of Babylon/Ur and the general Euphrates area.
