Stotsky: Bill Gates' Deceptive Drive to Continue Common Core Will Weaken Public Schools
Breitbart ^ | Dr. Sandra Stotsky | Dr. Sandra Stotsky

The Gates Foundation has been very busy trying to figure out ways for governors, state boards, and commissioners of education to pretend they are giving up Common Core’s standards or tests, while ensuring these states still have warmed-over versions in place to satisfy Bill Gates’ ambitions.

We now have many examples of states that have gone through the motions to placate the still-growing army of parents, teachers, state legislators, and other citizens demanding a stronger, not weaker, public school system. But, instead of developing stronger alternative standards in place of Common Core’s misbegotten standards, some elected and appointed officials have deliberately played a trick on all of them by keeping Common Core’s tentacles in place while they use less toxic labels to describe the octopus strangling the education system.

Why so many seemingly rational people want to believe that Common Core’s standards and the tests based on them are worth keeping is a subject for an in-depth psychological study. Why have so many, including reporters and others in the media, been so willingly fooled by a few Professor Harold Hills when they all must know they are harming the economic future of all children in our public schools, including the minority children they profess to care about the most?

By now, five years after the release of Common Core’s final version of its mathematics and English language arts standards, it is quite clear to those who can read English that these standards cannot make our students ready for authentic college-level work -- and that they were not intended to. It should be clear by now that they were intended to get underperforming students into college (and then out with a diploma) in order to close the education “gaps” between students who are willing to spend some of their

Looks to me like Gates wants to make cheaper foreign labor more competitive by ruining its domestic competition.

It would be nice if he tried his stupid little experiment in a private school first (with the full consensus of the private school's administration). Then again, this is the same idiot who is pushing gun control in Washington state, so we can expect him to fully embrace evil.

I'm always baffled as why Gates votes for the same liberals who pushed through the Communist anti-trust legislation against him. I think he wants to destroy America out of spite.

It’s all about reducing wages to third world status.

There are days it wouldn’t take much to convince me that Bill Gates harbors an abiding hatred of America and all that is good about her.

Capital versus labor, yup. Oh but Gates is such a great humanitarian...

well, he did build crappy software, useful enough to keep people dependent on it, crappy enough to make them by the next “version”.

Common Core is Gates’ OS self agrandisement in applying it to society.

Those wealthy enough to control politicians love the concentration of power socialism brings. They're too blind to see where it goes, believing that if they keep the government in debt to them, they get to call the shots. Until it all implodes. When the declining marginal value of cash couples with a declining marginal productivity of capital, things get interesting.

That is counter-productive in the sense that that will further reduce govt. tax revenues and leave the lefties less cash to spend.

Thanks to SoConPubbie for the post as well.

I’ve been reading these headlines for weeks about ‘this district drops CC’ and ‘that State drops that...’

...but none of it matters if no one is going to ask the hard questions of the respective Districts/States. Great to see it reported, but I’m skeptical anything will come of it if this is showing they were prepared to obfuscate. Almost rises to the level of conspiracy, but who’s going to prosecute?

On the thread below, comments are directed toward math, but if you open the breitbart link, there is an audio on sound cloud that is a protest directed at Mike Pence (for tricking people into thinking they had repealed common core).

Note that in the breitbart article it tells what he was saying on the audio and the most important statement is last in the quote - “the damage can’t be undone”. And based on his previous statements in the article, because of common core, students will be at a disadvantage, doomed to working in fast food, service areas, because they do not have math skills.

So post 4 about reducing wages to third world status is spot on.

Common Core Blockbuster: Mathematician Dr. Jim Milgram Warns Common Core Will Destroy America’s Standing in Technology

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/09/01/Common-Core-Blockbuster-Mathematician-Dr-Jim-Milgram-Warns-Common-Core-Will-Destroy-America-s-Standing-in-Technology

Quote:
all of this is just a repeat of what went on 20 years ago in California – but this time, it’s national.”
“This time I don’t see any uniform or systematic way of getting rid of it,” Milgram said. “The only way you’re going to get rid of it is state by state and parent group by parent group. And if you’re lucky, industry will join you because high tech is ever a more important part of our economy.”
The bad news, according to Milgram, is that, returning to his experience in California in the ‘90s, if students had been in that system with the older, poor standards for three or four years, “the damage couldn’t be undone,” he said.

The billionaire crowd doesn’t care about that, because even if their incomes were cut by 90%, they would still have more money to Las several lifetimes. They consider themselves rulers and gods and that is what they are setting up.

Gates has been schlepping cr*p ever since bought DOS. He’s never had an original idea in his life, and can only brag about being the world’s best crooked businessman.

May he, his awful company, and everything else he’s perped on the populace descend into a black hole.
