Hawks co-owner Bruce Levenson cited an “inappropriate and offensive” e-mail he sent two years ago in an abrupt announcement Sunday that he will sell his controlling interest in the team. “I have said repeatedly that the NBA should have zero tolerance for racism, and I strongly believe that to be true. That is why I voluntarily reported my inappropriate e-mail to the NBA."

Regarding game ops, i need to start with some background. for the first couple of years we owned the team, i didn’t much focus on game ops. then one day a light bulb went off. when digging into why our season ticket base is so small, i was told it is because we can’t get 35-55 white males and corporations to buy season tixs and they are the primary demo for season tickets around the league. when i pushed further, folks generally shrugged their shoulders. then i start looking around our arena during games and notice the following:
— it’s 70 pct black
— the cheerleaders are black
— the music is hip hop
— at the bars it’s 90 pct black
— there are few fathers and sons at the games
— we are doing after game concerts to attract more fans and the concerts are either hip hop or gospel.
Then i start looking around at other arenas. It is completely different. Even DC with its affluent black community never has more than 15 pct black audience.
My theory is that the black crowd scared away the whites and there are simply not enough affluent black fans to build a signficant season ticket base. Please dont get me wrong.

The Houston Livestock and Rodeo does “outreach” programming with entertainment specifically designed to draw black and hispanic audiences (one of those programming days is called Go Tejano Day) in addition to the other scheduled performers.
If Atlanta is programming hip hop and gospel acts exclusively, what efforts are they making to court white audiences?
Don’t talk! Just do it. Change what you know is losing money - but don’t talk about.
Atlanta only 33% non-Hispanic white. There is no way that affluent whites will be comfortable going to games in Atlanta. The only solution would be to move where they play to the suburbs and make sure there is no public transportation there.

This is an incredibly stupid analysis. Instead of celebrating that he has an audience that cares enough to buy tickets he focuses on merchandise sales being low. His ‘poor’ demographic goes to the games.
Atlanta is not the best sports city, just like down here in Miami. And his team hasn’t sniffed a real playoff run in how long? One 50-win regular season in the last 16 years!
One star player (Dominique Wilkins) in 20 years! Put a friggin’ winning team on the court and you’ll get your white attendance. Down here in Miami the TV station that broadcasts the Dolphins had to buy and NOT USE thousands of tickets last year just so the game wouldn’t be blacked out.
Atlanta and Miami . . .two cities that if you don’t win, you don’t draw. PERIOD.
Then he compounds his stupidity by comparing the merchandise sales to a team that MOVED out of Atlanta in 2011 because they couldn’t sell enough tickets and moved to WINNIPEG of all places!
This guy is CLUELESS . . . of course, if stupidity was a disqualifying characteristic we’d have another President too . . .

Blacks are also the only racial group that marches, protests and loots when a dubious member of their group is shot by a policeman. That's a little weird to the rest of us... And by the 'rest of us' I mean Asians, Hispanics, whites, Jews, Irish, Cubans,Indians, French, etc etc... flavors of Americans....
And yeah, people do tend to vote with their feet... that makes it sadder.
Levenson wasn't talking about not allowing blacks into the games - just about ways to attract other racial groups... It's depressing when we're talking about blacks not assimilating easily and about others not wanting to be with them... Maybe it's a chicken and egg thing... which came first? And how to make it better... legal things have been done - - now it's at the level of the human heart...

Black NBA fans and players are the most racist of any sport, and are racist against white and asian fans and players. They also like to throw their politics around when people just want to talk basketball, and they will call you a member of the “tea party” like it’s some kind of perjorative.
