There’s a long history of our northern neighbors chasing down these critters - maybe the tide is turning!
Somewhere in the archives of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is an accident report about an employee who was viciously attacked by a trapped snapping beaver. The critter had become trapped within a cyclone fence when the river went up then went back down. When the employee opened the gate to help the animal get out the critter thought it was trapped and attacked him. There were many, many stitches and a long round of rabies shots. The leg lacerations were pretty darn serious.
So, if you are ever confronted by a snapping beaver stay clear.
