We need a chief executive who can artfully make the compelling case to the country that we continue to be unfairly and unconstitutionally subjugated.
Every so often, an incident symptomatic of deeper issues triggers a release valve for collective despair. The killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., sparked a movement much larger than concerns about the aggressive policing of black men. The marches and protests are a larger commentary about the economic and societal disenfranchisement of black people and the response to Brown’s death is a coalescing event, sounding the latest clarion call for America to revisit her unresolved original sin.
But movements need leaders. And while this one certainly has organizers doing important work, it is missing the critical element that black America has not produced for some time: a national, unifying figure. Black America needs its own presidential figurehead—a chief executive who can artfully make the compelling case to the country that we are unfairly and unconstitutionally subjugated. A case that needs to have a face and voice with which the nation can interact, associate and, in theory, negotiate.
Though familiar faces take the mantle in times of uncertainty or calamity, none are the embodiment of the larger, enduring and unrelenting cause. In a survey last year, a plurality of black Americans (40 percent) said there is no leader who speaks (pdf) for them. Even when familiar names were presented, such as the Rev. Jesse Jackson or current Congressional Black Caucus members, only 1 in 10 felt these leaders were adequately giving voice to their issues. The most popular name was the Rev. Al Sharpton, but there is a growing sentiment that his vision and approach lack currency....

Why should we ever even try to appease them? It’s gone beyond ridiculous at this point.
People are dying in their attempts to come to America. And these idiots do nothing but bitch and moan while waiting for their welfare checks.
I say give everyone dissatisfied here a one-way ticket to anywhere outside the United States and one million dollars tax-free, in exchange for which they give up US citizenship and agree never to return. If they’re caught on US soil they do five years in prison at hard labor.

OK, so black America takes Obama and Holder, and we’ll just settle for someone else, that’s fine by me. But, they gotta take Holder, it’s a package deal.
I agree with them. We should separate.
I can agree with this to a point but in a way that the writer would not accept.
Many of the black people in this country are subjugated.
They are subjugated in their minds. They are held in slavery by their preconceived notion that they are limited by their skin color to what they can achieve.
They are enslaved by a social welfare system that has addicted them to unearned income and other benefits that they will lose if they achieve too much.
They are subjugated by a subculture that makes achievement of good grades or even good grammar as acting white.
The black’s subjugation is largely self-imposed and all they need to be free of that subjugation is to free their minds and take responsibility for their own future.
The black community needs to stop blaming others for their plight. Until they take responsibility for their own personal sircumstances they will never achieve the freedom that they say they want.
If a black leader is ever to arise that will free them it will be a leader that changes the black subculture to one of personal responsibility.
I would like to kindly invite these whiners to STFU. They have their black administration. How much blacker do they need to be?
We are where we are because the GOP and Lincoln emancipated them, slaughtering thousands of Sons of the Founders in the process, and then refused to repatriate them back to where they were snatched from.

i quit ascribing it to their being “groomed” or “victimized” or any other external influence long long ago. If they are “victims”, they are the most willing and complicit victims I’ve ever seen, and they are “victimized” all over the globe, judging from the conditions of any black-run entity you care to name, no matter what its history.
