The French would welcome anybody into their country - even if they hate the French way of life...I doubt Burkas and nude beaches can co-exsist.
I saw a Youtube interview of a French atheist, formerly Muslim. She described how the French ban on the hijab wasn’t just a matter of controlling the political expression, because many moderate Muslim nations didn’t have burkas and strict hijab.
It was also a matter of protecting women, Muslim or not. Islam considers women in Hijab marked as pious and religious, not to be raped. If Muslim women start covering up, it marks them as safe while suggesting to Muslim men that all the other women are fair game. It also intimidates women who wear a light head scarf that they aren’t religious enough, you need MORE protective clothing - while implying outside isn’t safe for women, stay home.
