GOP to Justice: Stop hiding ex-IRS lawyer
The Hill ^ | 9/04/14 | Bernie Becker

Posted on 09/05/2014 10:17:49 AM PDT by blueyon

A top House Republican on Thursday accused the Justice Department of helping a former department lawyer duck an interview about the IRS’s improper scrutiny of Tea Party groups.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) pressed Attorney General Eric Holder to provide contact information for Andrew Strelka to the House Oversight Committee by Friday.

Republicans say that Strelka’s tenure with the government illustrates a conflict of interest in the Obama administration’s investigation into the IRS scandal.

Strelka once worked for Lois Lerner, the former IRS official at the center of the controversy. After moving to the Justice Department, Strelka defended the IRS against a lawsuit filed by Z Street, a pro-Israel group that said its application for tax-exempt status was singled out because it opposed President Obama’s policies.

Jordan and House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) asked to interview Strelka last week in a letter to Holder, but were later told that the lawyer had left the department.

“Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) asked to interview Strelka last week in a letter to Holder”

Another self-inflicted Issa misdirection. We’ll get to the bottom of this in maybe 2019.

This makes it the Department of Obstructing Justice.

Yes it does.

It should always be referred to as the Department of Obstructing Justice until Holder leaves.

Once found in Contempt of Congress the contemnor must be imprisoned to compel compliance. Otherwise Congress’ authority will continue to be ignored by the contemnor, their impudence encouraging others to obstruct Congress’ legitimate oversight authority, making a mockery of Congress.

Congress can not allow their authority to be ignored. Congress can not allow their investigation to be stymied.

Jail Lois Lerner.

Where oh where can Andrew Strelka be......................

If the party labels were reversed, we'd have Democrat after Democrat going to the floor of the Senate saying "Wheeeers Andrewwww?"

The MSM would love it, it would be the headline of the news cycle.

Issa bugs me. He doesn’t understand the damage he is doing, yet he clearly thinks of himself as a crusader. I have written him and tried to convey this as politely as I can because from the entrepreneurial aspect I admire the guy and think he is pretty genuine. But he plays a crappy lawyer on television. The other side has detected this and is happy he is in charge of what they are able to turn into just so many wild goose chases.

Where’s Gowdy?

Gowdy is busy and doesn’t waste your time. He has been given a task and will see it through.

Where do you think leaks from DC come from?

It’s from those running scared and afraid of revelation.

Once you accept the FACT that Issa is playing his part in a farce; that of ‘pressure relief valve’ to placate and vent anger of the Republican base by giving the impression that the GOP is ‘doing something’, the reality presents itself.

All one need do is compare the actions of the man and his ‘investigations’ to the results of them to see it clearly.

Reluctantly, I have to agree with you. I am not sure he even knows it; but it hardly matters.

Nah, it doesn’t matter, but he knows full well. The GOP is evil as the Dems are. This is no longer Reagans party. It is the Costello to the Dems Abbot. A full and important partner.
