while including Israel in the Levant, I think there is a better reason. Isis is about the nations of Iraq and Syria that no longer exist. Both are in effect gone.
I can expect that including Israel and Lebanon in the new nation might ba part of the dream, but excluding the once were nations of Iraq and Syria is the real reason.

Depends on language used or implied. I posted the explanation back in July, i think. ISIS if taken by its arabic name means “al-sham”, which in fact means “the Levant” (meaning greater Syria). To take ISIS as many do, including most of our western media, as “Iraq & Syria” is misleading. Syria in arabic is actually Suriya (or Suriyah — english spelling).
