I’m not sure the AOH has control anymore. It seems that they handed it over to an “independent parade committee” some years ago.

I no longer know who has the parade permit. It’s all very confusing.

Every year there is a Salute to Israel parade in New York. About half the marchers are Orthodox. When gay marchers wanted to join, the Orthodox—half the parade—said they would refuse to march. Period.

When some Reform (liberal) Jewish groups then said that the gay marchers could march with them, the Orthodox still said that was not good enough; they would not march. Period.

Result: the gays didn’t march.

Sometimes you have to draw a red line...
