A Louisiana Republican challenging Democrat Mary Landrieu for her Senate seat is expanding his efforts to prove the three-term lawmaker doesnt live in her home state, instead using her parents address to qualify for the November ballot.
GOP Senate candidate Rob Maness on Friday submitted a written compliant to district attorneys in four Louisiana parishes calling on them to object to Landrieus residency qualifications.

This is a problem on both sides of the aisle, to wit: Senators Thad Cochran and Pat Roberts. But, as politicians are wont to do, they ignore the Constitution when it is convenient for them to do so. Voters don’t seem to mind that they are represented by a member of the Washington political class, rather than by an inhabitant of their own state. As long as the goodies continue to roll, this will not change.

The ObamaCare Queen should face millions of questions about her back door deals over DeathCare, ya think?
I remember when Rick Santorum was running for re-election to the Senate in PA in 2006, a local woman who just happened to be a Dem party official went on a full-scale crusade over his residency status. She actually peeked in the windows of the address that he was using to qualify for the ballot, and reported there was little or no furniture, and that he and his family were living full time in VA.
Santorum’s status was complicated by the fact that he charged the Commonwealth of PA for tuition for his children’s cyber school. Justified or not, the Democrats made it a major campaign issue and he was defeated by Bob Casey.
But when their own are guilty of the same, well, it’s just not that important.
Landrieu’s voters don’t care. They are collected, fed, transported to the voting booth, remunerated, and brought home by a massive Dem “get out the vote” machine that is deeply entrenched in Louisiana.
Pesky things like facts, voting records, qualifications are meaningless.
May I borrow your “ObamaCare Queen” nickname for Mary L.?
The other name I have for these vermin isn’t printable. Yes, feel free. How anyone in Louisiana can forget her duplicity against We The People is unbelievable. Why the gutless GOP doesn’t expose these vermin 24/7 in ads is unbelievable and unforgivable as well.
Simple: RINOs have a fear of not being liked by the Leftstream Media, who control the COURT OF PUBLIC OPINION.
She does not live in the state and is a crook.
Life is simply if the media told the truth.
Two things to the Dems disadvantage this year: 1. Obama is not on the ballot. They will not clear out the Crack Houses and the HO Houses for the Dem Ticket this year. 2. New Orleans will not be enough to push Landrieu over the top this year.
Senator Thunder Thighs is going down. She might not be one of the top two in the Run-off.
One thing I will report is that when written, no member of our elected congress or other, stayed in DC through out the 12 month period for the reason that DC area was a hot, steamy, mosquito-ridden swamp!
I remember Pat Buchannan stating when he was growing up in Virginia and his father was either an elected member of congress or worked with government and at that time (presumably in the 1940s) only worked during the cooler months of the year.
After checking government records of congressional reports, I find that from 1927 to 1929 the congressional calendar year consisted of days from December through May (135 days) with a week off for Christmas.
After the 1929 Crash. It more importantly after FDR was elected, during the Depression, those calendar years consisted of 67 - 71 days or December through March.
Even during WWII, the actual calendar had congress in session between 141 through 204 days or January through May, then back from September through November (around the time of the Normandy invasion) and back the first week in January through April.
As was true during WWII, during Korea, there was an uptick in the congressional calendar but until the late '50s and '60s did the calendar expand with Spring (Easter) and Summer breaks, the actual working days have never expanded beyond those lengthy working sessions in the war years, they became spread out during the year, it became necessary for most members of congress to have some kind of permanent lodging in DC, one of the most expensive communities in the U.S.
We can certainly demand congress return to a January through May calendar year so it is not necessary to have any kind of permanent dwelling but unless a member of congress is independently wealthy, a spouse has a very well paid job or we triple congressional salaries, there is no logical way for members to have even a minimal dwelling at home as well as very minimal dwelling in DC!
There needs to be an open and honest way to discuss this dilemma but pretense by congressmen and women to actually live in both places (unless one is a Kerry, a Kennedy, a Pelosi or a Di Fi) is always going to leave the member open to charges to being a phony, a liar, or other by a Primary challenger or even member of the opposition and the low information voter will actually believe that the person challenging the existing member would be able to do anything any different!
As for me, I'd much rather pay the congress critter a much higher salary but absolutely insist on term limits of 12 years and absolutely NO pension - period, but that's not gonna happen in my lifetime!!!
I was a teenager in Washington in the late 50s, early 60s. My cousin was our Congressmans secretary and her dad was superintendent of one of the House Office Buildings. In the summers, my friends and I had free run of Capitol Hill, either because no one checked or we got passes from my cousin. A few committees held meetings and some members were in town, but they had little to do. I remember having extended conversations with members who were not from my state, just because their doors were open and they were bored.
Most did what the founders envisioned, they went back home and went to the feed store, the union hall, and the VFW. They all had homes in their districts/states and many lived in hotels when they were in D.C. Sam Rayburn lived in a hotel and went back to Fannin County whenever he could, which was frequently. Now we have second and third generation Washington bred politicians who act like Roman praetorians.
Of course, there is no one, and I do mean no one belongs in congress for decades but there they are and must live at least close to where they work, even if part time but are legally required to also "live I'm their districts."
