A case could be made that colored folks were better off in the days of Jim Crow. Of course, back then, Democrats used firehoses and dogs to keep the black man down -- nobody thinks thats acceptable today -- but families were intact, blacks had decent schools, unemployment was pretty comparable to whites, communities were not filled with crime.

But then things changed. Democrats put away the firehoses and they put away the dogs, and they got real friendly with the negro. And it's all been downhill since then. The days of Jim Crow? You may not want to call 'em the Good Old Days, but nowadays ain't so good in comparison.

But you go right on giving 94% of your vote to Democrats. See if that fixes things.

A case can be made that they were better off at that time when it came to family structure. They went through a period of time after the civil war where getting the family together seemed to mean something. Then when a political party call the Dimocrats started rewarding people for NOT having a family structure, it all went to hell.
