A former Iowa state senator who was a key official in Rep. Michele Bachmann's 2012 presidential campaign pleaded guilty Wednesday to illicitly concealing payments he received to switch his support from Bachmann to then-Texas Rep. Ron Paul.

Former GOP state Sen. Kent Sorenson received thousands of dollars in "under the table payments," according to the Justice Department, to ditch Bachmann’s campaign, where he had served as Iowa chairman. He endorsed Paul instead.

In the plea agreement, Sorenson admitted concealing payments of $73,000 after secretly negotiating to switch his support. The payments came in monthly installments of roughly $8,000, according to DOJ.

I swear, government is like an old rusty exhaust system. No matter where you look it is rotten and corrupt beyond repair. The only option is complete replacement, preferably with stainless, if you can find it...

Can’t we just get rid of all these clowns and start over. It never ends, doesn’t matter which party it is.

P.S. The purpose of all this is to for the DOJ to take down Rand Paul.

Sounds like a cockroach scenario to me: the Ron Paul campaign must have done this with more than one opposition worker.

It would be nice if the article disclosed the specific person(s) or entit(ies) the checks came from. The article just says Paul supporters but doesn’t say who they are.

The payments included monthly installments of approximately $8,000 each and were concealed by transmitting them to a film production company, then through a second company, and finally to Sorenson and his spouse.

So the prosecutor doesn’t know who the payments originally came from before they were laundered? Sounds like whoever made the payments committed a crime as well.

The source of the payments was most likely Mitch McConnell’s campaign manager. That’s probably why he resigned from the turtle’s campaign this evening.

I didn’t know IA is corrupt too, but I have known for years that it is liberal.
