Washington Post says Senator Landrieu "does not have a home of her own" in Louisiana

Alexandria, VA -- Today, the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) released a new web video highlighting incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu's residency problems.

A new investigative report published by the Washington Post today says:

Here in Louisiana, however, the Democrat does not have a home of her own. She is registered to vote at a large bungalow in New Orleans that her parents have lived in for many decades, according to a Washington Post review of Landrieu’s federal financial disclosures and local property and voting records.

On a statement of candidacy Landrieu filed with the Federal Election Commission in January, she listed her Capitol Hill home as her address. But when qualifying for the ballot in Louisiana last week, she listed the family’s raised-basement home here on South Prieur Street.

The story quotes several neighbors who say they never see Senator Landrieu at the house and believe (accurately) that she lives in Washington, DC.

Senator Landrieu's residency problem was raised by Col. Rob Maness (R-LA), her conservative challenger. Col. Maness doesn't believe Landrieu lives in Louisiana and wrote to the Secretary of State Tom Schedler (R) asking him to investigate.

"A U.S. senator shouldn’t be living with their parents," Maness told the Washington Post. "She's got plenty of good pay, she's employed, but she says she's living with her parents? . . . It's time for one of us from the state of Louisiana to go fill this seat."

The Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) is a grassroots organization that helps elect conservative leaders to the United States Senate. SCF has helped elect principled conservatives like Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Rand Paul (R-KY).

Perhaps there should be some kind of law that says out of a 365-day period....you must spend at least sixty twenty-four periods within your home-state, or be “let-go” by the state and have the governor appoint a replacement.

What gets me is that all of these Senators and Representatives have residence either in DC, Maryland, or Virginia....all high taxation states. It’d seem like each would figure a way to make the idiots admit they have an established residence there, and get more taxation out of them.

80% of our reps and senators are residents of Virginia, Maryland and DC and any residency of their home states is tangential at best. This in my opinion creates a bubble, that causes them to only have concern for their fellow peers and none for those that the purport to represent. The congress of the USA should only meet 100 days a year and spend the other 265 day at home dealing with constituent services. 90% of the problem is they feel that they must act on every little issue that may come up and not allow the courts and common cause to solve these problems, that are primarily local!

Sen. Tom Dascle did the same thing listing his South Dakota residence at his elderly mother’s home in Aberdeen while he lived with his wealthy lobbyist wife in a million dollar home outside DC. He never set foot in South Dakota except when running for reelection.

I would be impressed if you could find one senator of either party that actually lived in the State they represent. These guys are more like Ambassadors than Senators. Remember when that mook democrat from Florida was found not to live in the State? House ethics committee told him to rent an apartment everything would be kosher, and it was.

After WW II we all laughed at how easily the Russian People were fed the lies and they believed them. Works here all to easily too.
