AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Two Texans, one White House. Is the 2016 Republican campaign trail big enough?

After plummeting from prime contender to political punchline three years ago, Gov. Rick Perry is gearing up for a second run for president. And he's turned his recent indictment on felony abuse-of-power charges into a campaign rallying cry.

Cruz is young. He will bow to his better qualified elder and gain strength and experience in the Senate.

It need not be either or when it can be both

We don’t have time to wait through 8 more years of fascist democRat rule. The Rats will run that clip of Perry’s brain freeze during the debates 24/7.

It’s Cruz 2016 or never.

Perry has experience and a record.

Cruz, with his expertise, will make a great attorney general.

Not sure which, if ANY of the current “wannabe” stars will get the nod but we damn sure need a complete overhaul of the entire gubmint. There has got to be someone out there that will have the gonads (never heard of a woman with those “parts” but a backbone will do) to lead this country back onto a better track. (I did have the word “track” originally as “course” but we all know we’ve had enough golfing for a long time).

I am not putting my bet on anyone at this time because any qualified outsider will be taken apart by the establishment. We need someone who can handle that aspect. Perry was handed an unfair card with the conviction though, that will be there for awhile. And, we need a person that will unite all fractions of the conservative wing so, no more split the votes scenario.

Perry isn't a conservative. His games with Gardasil and the Trans Texas Corridor proved that. He's GOP liberal establishment all the way.

He won't get my vote for dog-catcher.

Really? We live in Texas and haven’t heard a thing about this. It’s just the Austin Democrats trying to get their two favorite targets into a fight, rather like Joe Biden telling Republicans they have to give amnesty to the illegals to save their party.

Why would he take that over remaining in the Senate?

If you don't see that Cruz and Perry are running for the 2016 nomination then you're blind.

Exactly. Texas Abuzz? Not one mention in that water cooler gossip piece that explains the title. Just pure speculation thrown out there to stir the pot. More lib media crap in action.

I am a huge Cruz fan. But I heard from a source this summer that Cruz may have difficulties due to his birth in Canada and his Cuban father. He needs to clear this up before progressing much further.

Did he go back in time and become a natural born citizen and we didn't hear about it, or are we going to ignore that inconvenience because the left ignored Hussein's?

Don't get me wrong, I'd vote Cruz over the Democrat/Aggie Perry any day, but it's kind of hard to ignore that fact.

There is nothing to clear up, it's not like he can go back in time and become a natural born citizen.

Even the left knows Cruz is eligible. Several Cruz birthers here on FR got the zot because they persisted on their crap reasoning.

Cruz is an American.

Tuition for illegals rug rats was the burnt bridge for me..... Yeah Ricks a better than a democrat etc .. Just would like to see Cruz get the nod. We may vote for one that is a conservative constitutionalist show pony but are not obligated to to keep it in the stable if it goes lame or turns out to be a stubborn jackass in disguise .

..... My opinion.

I try not to look at micro issues so much - in terms of a candidate. But this kind of decision, of who to help guide and steer you through all kinds of issues and decisions - is so so so telling.

It proves Perry is not in touch with the mood of the country. At times he seems like he is, but this is proof he is not.
