Islamic State beheads Kurdish pesh merga fighter in video
Washington Post ^ | 8/28/2014 | Erin Cunningham

On Thursday, Islamic State militants released another video of the purported beheading of one of their prisoners – this time an Iraqi Kurdish fighter for his government’s alliance with the United States.

The Kurds, whose regional authorities have sought U.S. help in their battle against the Sunni extremists in northern Iraq, should reject American interference in Iraqi affairs, the video says. Three masked gunmen are shown looming over the Kurdish fighter, a young man kneeling in a bright orange jumpsuit. Then one of the gunmen, who appear to be in the Iraqi city of Mosul, draws a blade and ends his life.

The six-minute video, posted to YouTube Thursday by the group’s network of online supporters, is similar to the one that grimly showed the execution of American journalist James Foley last week. The black-clad jihadists rail against the U.S. government before reaching for the Kurdish fighter's throat. As in the recording of Foley's murder, the video cuts away, only later showing the graphic evidence that a beheading did take place.

They better be careful. They are going to desensitize the great unwashed masses. Then what will they do? Draw and quarter?

Notice that they almost always give a reason for a beheading. The list of reasons is almost infinite.

The Kurdish peshmerga are VERY brave; the American Commander-in-Chief is a coward and the best friend that ISIS has in the West.

One wonders why anyone bothers to surrender to them.

Now we know what sort of war this is to be-—Take no prisoners! never surrender—fight to the death! Use any and all means to exterminate the IS fighters—Gas, Germs, Nukes, Robots, Carpet bombing, mass shellings, lets turn their territory into Verdun! In the words of Lawrence of Arabia—”Take no Prisoners!” These are the new Nazis—and as such they must be destroyed—Put bacon in the mouths of the dead so they will get no virgins in Paradise!

The Kurdish peshmerga are VERY brave

My guess is that ISIS forces better pray that the Peshmerga don't get hold of them now...

Way back after 9/11 when these videos just started to sicken the world, didn’t the jihadis conclude they had a negative impact from them?

Now they WANT to be seen as barbarians?

Totally agree! Islamic State previously had said that their brutality & beheadings, especially shown on vids via social media was Deliberate to instil fear. Desensitization is a very apt word. I think the Kurds & their allies would need to equally make a very public case of a few of IS members & murderers but not in a gruesome way. Be creative... much of this is about ‘visual’ psychology too.

IS Beheads Peshmerga Captive for Erbil-US Alliance

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region—A video posted by the Islamic State (IS) Thursday shows members of the radical Sunni group purportedly beheading a Kurdish Peshmarga fighter in the city of Mosul.

The video, which has been posted on YouTube, says the killing is a warning to the Kurdistan Region leaders to end their alliance with the United States, which has launched devastating airstrikes on jihadists, forcing them to pull back from Kurdish areas they had taken earlier this month.

In the footage, 14 other Peshmarga fighters are shown wearing orange prison suits, urging Kurdish leaders and Kurds in general to stand against their pact with the US against the Islamic State.

Three armed IS militants stand behind one alleged Kurdish Peshmerga captive near Mosul’s iconic mosque, one of them brandishing a knife as he threatens that the rest of the Kurdish fighters will die if the KRG-US alliance does not come to an end.

YouTube immediately removed the video from surfacing online, and has deleted several related videos uploaded so far.

One Peshmerga Hassan Mohamed Hashin, reads out instructions from IS militants in the video saying to Kurdish leaders, “You have made a big mistake by joining hands with America,”

The video appears to be another propaganda attempt by the IS, which is interpreted by some as a sign of the group’s recent defeat in areas around Mosul.

On Thursday morning Kurdish forces attacked IS militants near Zumar, capturing several villages, including Mount Batna, a strategic point overlooking Zumar.

Earlier this month, the IS beheaded American journalist James Foley and threatened to kill another American should the US continue its aerial strikes in Iraq.

The act brought international condemnation and promises of retaliation from Washington against the extremist group that rules large swathes of land in Syria and Iraq.
