It's too late to help in your situation but I what did about a year ago was to put a freeze/lock on my accounts at the 3 big credit bureaus. This way nobody can access my credit information. If a hacker tried to open a new account with my info, nobody would give him credit.

I can "unlock" it anytime I wish for a specified length of time then it's locked up again.

As soon as I found out about the identity theft, I did the same thing. I'm hoping it helps.
