Poll suggests Romney on top in Iowa if he runs again
CNN ^ | 8/27/14 | Paul Steinhauser

He keeps saying no to third run for the White House, but another new poll – this time in Iowa – indicates Mitt Romney would be the front runner for the Republican presidential nomination if he changes his mind.

A USA Today/Suffolk University survey of Iowa voters released Wednesday should add to the feeding frenzy over a possible 2016 presidential bid by the 2012 GOP nominee. While the former Massachusetts governor's repeatedly said he's not running again, the attention such speculation captures is a sign of the wide open nature right now of the upcoming Republican nomination race.

OK, I know no one wants Mitt, but this fascinates me. So can we focus on the WHY?

1) Is it because he was proven "right" regarding Russia and the debate issue with Zero?

2) Is it because no other GOP candidate has emerged (yet) to be a credible threat?

3) Buyer's remorse?

4) A combination of both?

Ugh....and this: “Take Romney out of the equation, and the poll indicates Huckabee – at 13% is on top of the crowded list of potential candidates. He’s followed by Christie at 11%, Perry at 9% Paul at 7%, Santorum and Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, the 2012 GOP vice presidential nominee, each at 6% and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida at 5%. The remaining potential candidates tested were all in the lower single digits.”

If these guys are the choices, we’re getting Hillary. What in the hell is it goign to take for people to wake up???

If it comes down to Romney vs. Hillary, then hand the election to Hillary and just shoot me now.

Isn’t he always on top?

I mean, I always thought Mormons were pretty traditional about those things...

Is it because the media is pushing a meme?

The same people who “don’t know anybody who voted for Nixon”?

Because Romney couldn’t fight his way out of a paper bag.
I put $$$ into his campaign assuming he knew what he was doing.

Clearly he didn’t as his lame campaign was only slightly better than McCain’s.

You may be right. But I’d buy that more if they were the ones conducting the poll.

I remember reading all the optimitic polling #s around RCP and all the polling that skewed the # of Dems polled during the last election. But the bottom line is, those polls were pretty much correct. The election went as forecast.

And that makes me a little nervous.

What about other candidates such as Ted Cruz? Why was he not even listed in this poll?

Clearly the GOP is wide open for ‘16, while Hillary is the Den front runner if she runs.

“What about other candidates such as Ted Cruz? Why was he not even listed in this poll?”

The article states that other candidates polled in the low single digits. I’m assuming he was one of them.

Romney’s job is to block a conservative from getting the nomination.
