Wait a minute, Chechens? With Russian hardware?

Is this another ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ proxy war?

Russia has been sending Chechen fighters into Ukraine for months. Hundreds of their corpses have been returned to Russia during that period.

There is a lot of disinformation directed from the Kremlin towards American conservatives to paint Russia as a defender of Christian values against Islam. In all actuality, the exact opposite is true. Case in point, Chechnya, now that Russia has dominated it, is controlled by a puppet who is also transforming Chechnya into a new Islamic caliphate, albeit one subservient to Russian goals:

While rebuilding Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov is promoting what he calls "traditional Islam": it is making Chechnya feel less and less part of Russia.

Under Mr Kadyrov, there is also a stricter Islamic dress code. I meet one woman who tells me that she had been threatened for not wearing a headscarf in public.

She is deeply concerned by the policy of Islamisation. Fearing reprisals, the woman asks to remain anonymous."

The Russians not only use Chechens to invade other countries, but they even use them as expendable hit-squads to kill people within the country.

The Russians have a history of sending their Chechens to slaughter Christians, but don’t remind our “Putin is the Savior of Christianity”-type FReepers. They run away, and we prefer that they stay so that we can make fun of them.
