GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Police filled a downtown Grand Junction neighborhood Monday afternoon after an officer-involved shooting occurred.
"A ton of sirens came flying down our streets, about multiple police were down each street," eyewitness Ben Arellano said.
Arellano witnessed the whole incident from his house saying he heard allegedly 12 gunshots near 17th and Grand Avenue.
"Almost all of Grand Junction police, I felt like, was here at this house, guns drawn. Sadly, someone was on the ground," Arellano said.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department, authorities were called to remove a person outside a home. They contacted the person, and that's when shots were fired.
"I heard those 12 first shots that happened. It sounded like an assault rifle, a handgun with an extended clip, something like that," Arellano said.
The suspect was shot and killed during the incident. Two of the officers involved were not injured.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released. The 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Team has been brought in to investigate the case.
Scuse me? I didn't realize an extended 'clip' in a handgun made it sound like an 'assault rifle'...
A standard (not extended) Glock G17 magazine holds 17 rounds.
Dillon Taylor - dead for reaching for a cell phone - BUT
At the time of his shooting, court documents show Taylor had a $25,000 bench warrant for a probation violation in connection with felony robbery and obstructing justice convictions.
- Seems reason to go out and riot - just like they did in MO - right...??? Same principle???
I assume that the laws of acoustics would dictate that the longer the magazine, the lower the pitch.
I bet it was one of those scary military style assault weapons.
There’s either more shooting incidents since 0 ascended the throne or the MSM is putting them at the forefront to bias the public against guns. I guess this type of thing is to be expected with the spirit of AntiChrist throughout the land.
One thing seems obvious from the wording of the article: This wasn’t a white-cop-on-black-perp shooting. Otherwise, such would probably have been routed straight to Fat Albert’s desk before hitting the wire.
Two of the officers involved were not injured.
;-)
Yowza! That’s quite the ‘extended clip’.
Agreed.
Plus it’s not a clip it’s a magazine.
It’s an ‘assault’ clip....................
My wife swears that Obama is the AntiChrist!
The mere existence of a warrant is no justification for executing someone .
That is what too many of these incidents amount to:summary execution by a coward or bully in uniform.
Yes,I said COWARD, and I mean it;these wusses are too scared or too aggressive to calmly check out what is happening. They simply shoot at any motion like stupid hunters shooting at movement in the bushes without being certain of what or why they are shooting. Multiple cops shouting conflicting orders confuse everyone .The new policy of “every cop for miles around rush to the scene” is wasteful and un-needed.And if there are multiple officers then only one should be giving orders to the suspect.Otherwise you have a situation similar to a pack of dogs whose frenzy excites each other.Half a dozen “I am in charge now” egos all pumped up is a plan for disaster. The first thing the officer should say is” sir or ma’am ,keep your hands in front of you where I can see them “.Nor should raising one’s hand to protect the face from beating be justification for shooting.
I have always doubted the police really needed to replace the proven manstopper 6 shot revolver with 15 to 19 round semi-autos. The old time officer seldom emptied his gun(or needed to). Today’s police shooting send entirely too many bullets flying.
This nation needs to get rid of the “law enforcers” and return to “peace officers”.The unions need to stop protecting the bad cops.
Wait .....was that a porcine aviator .............
Agreed. Standards have been dropped over the last 10-12 yrs...majorly dropped. Instead of getting educated & multi-experienced individuals that can comprehend what is going on and not relaying on their service weapon, these incidents will continue to grow.
I served in both civilian and military LE - and I’m now out of both...but the ever growing culture of thinking one way has been replaced by immature attitudes. There are times to respond lightly and other times heavy, but at this point things are becoming muddied by lower standards and those who actually seek to go into law enforcement.
It’s no longer a duty, for those that really wanted to serve and protect. Those guys left! The ones replacing do not have the mental capacity to use common sense and tactics that are appropriate.
I wasn’t making the excuse for a guy with a warrant to be shot. Especially 12 shots at that! There are alot more elements that go into officers these days...and it’s not good.

If he’s not you can rest assured they’re on each other’s mobile phone’s speed dial list

See a common denominator on all of the police shootings? I do...
100% correct. It's now about "I was bullied in high school, so now I'm getting revenge" or "I was a bully in HS and don't know how to function in real society"
This is, unfortunately, the case with every single LEO I know today.
