(CNN) -- Former FBI Director Louis Freeh was hospitalized after a car accident in Vermont, a U.S. law enforcement official told CNN.
The official said Freeh was undergoing surgery for unspecified injuries.
Freeh was director of the FBI from September 1993 to June 2001.

I actually thought, based on all the qualified witnesses and explosive residue, that TWA 800 was a shoot-down. Than of course Freeh and Clinton told me it wasn’t, and that I was just an idiot conspiracy theorist because sparks in fuel tanks take planes down all the time (from the exposed wiring in the fuel tanks I guess.) So I feel better now that there was no terrorism under Clinton, no WTC attacks or anything claimed by Osama bin Laden or anything, just some wacky racists in Oklahoma and stuff. Those wacky racists!
That was a standard way of doing away with "difficult" public figures in the old Soviet Union.
He also effed up a big FIFA investigation - where his report was eventually laughed out of a courtroom.
