it’s all in good fun..
My son-in-law is from England, now an American citizen. He told us that in England they call the Fourth of July the Day of Good Riddance. We laughed. No hard feelings at all. They are still our mother country, closer to us than any other people.
Plus, one must take the English sense of humor , and history,into account. They still celebrate Guy Fwalkes day. It’s all in good fun, as you say.
