France, Germany, and the UK have circulated a draft UN resolution on the Gaza conflict designed to end the rule of Hamas in return for Israel lifting its seven-year blockade of the Strip.
The text, entitled “Elements”, was circulated in New York earlier this week and leaked on Thursday (21 August) to Israeli daily Haaretz.
According to the newspaper, the resolution calls for Hamas, a militant group which advocates armed resistance against Israel, to hand over power to the Palestinian Authority, which is prepared to recognize Israel in return for the creation of a Palestinian state.
It also calls for Israel to lift its “economic and humanitarian restrictions” on access to Gaza and to reopen all Gaza crossing points. …

Oh, and what about Jerusalem? What guarantees that Hamas doesn’t end up in charge again in Gaza? What guarantees about terrorism, rockets, etc.?
And, of course, the biggest elephant in the room is that the whole thing would be monitored by the internationals...the same bunch of anti-Semite SOBs that let the Pallies put rockets and explosives depots inside UN SCHOOLS for crying out loud.
I think that the odds of such an agreement being signed and working out well are somewhat less than the odds that I can pick up the USS Nimitz and fling it across the Isthmus of Panama.
Arafat signed the Oslo Accords but never ratified them; he just as quickly broke them, but the “international community” never acknowledged that as a “Palestinian” withdrawal, funny enough, and insisted on Israel continuing to observe their draconian terms.
When are the 57 moslem countries going to start taking in refugees from Gaza?

Smart. The EU will ask Hamas to pull out of the government, they will of course, and peace will break out all over. They'll make the region safe for democracy, like they did to Europe a century ago. Needless to say there appears to be no input from Israel desired.
